It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for students. Computer Science is the 12th most popular major in the country with 59,565 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.
Across Florida, there were 532 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $55,608 and $25,211 respectively.
This year’s “Most Well Attended CompSci Major in Florida” ranking analyzed 20 colleges that offered a degree in computer science. To top this list, a school must have a successful computer science program that graduates more students in the field than other colleges that offer the same major.

Out of the 20 schools in the Most Well Attended CompSci Major in Florida that were part of this year’s ranking, Florida Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. This medium-sized school is located in Melbourne, Florida, and it awarded 69 ’s compsci degrees in 2020-2021.

Out of the 20 schools in the Most Well Attended CompSci Major in Florida that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Miami landed the #3 spot on the list. University of Miami is a fairly large school located in Coral Gables, Florida that handed out 63 ’s compsci degrees in 2020-2021.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 1.9%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 91%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Full Sail University. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Well Attended CompSci Major in Florida list. Winter Park, Florida is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out ’s compsci degrees to 60 students in 2020-2021.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of South Florida - Main Campus. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Well Attended CompSci Major in Florida list. USF Tampa is located in Tampa, Florida and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 59 ’s compsci degrees to qualified students.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 3.3% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 92%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.
