In 2020-2021, 59,565 people earned their degree in computer science, making the major the 12th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.

Across Ohio, there were 1,022 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $64,070 and $27,690 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 608 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,341 and $26,852 respectively.

The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great computer science programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Xavier University is located in Cincinnati, Ohio and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 26 bachelors’s compsci degrees to qualified students.

Xavier not only placed well in this ranking. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 139 diplomas to qualified bachelors’s compsci students in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our ohio bachelor’s degree vets studying compsci list, Case Western has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Ohio” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 109 of the 11,465 students enrolled at Case Western Reserve University were GI Bill® students, of which 69 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $18,799. To help with additional expenses, 35 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 93%. The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.
