In 2020-2021, 12,917 people earned their degree in chemical engineering, making the major the 70th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, chemical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $65,870 and had an average of $23,285 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 1,506 chemical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $69,230 and $22,434 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Chem Eng” ranking, we looked at 17 colleges that offer a degree in chemical engineering. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality chemical engineering programs as well as strong veteran support.
