Across the Great Lakes region, there were 355 East Asian languages graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,570 and $23,431 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value East Asian Schools in the Great Lakes Region” ranking, we looked at 11 colleges that offer a degree in East Asian languages. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent East Asian languages programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Out of the 11 schools in the Best Value East Asian Schools in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Western Michigan University landed the #1 spot on the list. WMU is a fairly large school located in Kalamazoo, Michigan that handed out 4 ’s East Asian degrees in 2020-2021.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Ball State University. The school came in at #2 for the Best Value East Asian Schools in the Great Lakes Region. Ball State University is a large school located in Muncie, Indiana that handed out 13 ’s East Asian degrees in 2020-2021.
Ball State not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #9 on our “Best East Asian Languages Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list. The yearly cost to attend Ball State is $14,765 for great lakes region east asian students.

UW - Madison is a large school located in Madison, Wisconsin that handed out 51 ’s East Asian degrees in 2020-2021.

Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this small private not-for-profit school awarded 12 diplomas to qualified ’s East Asian students in 2020-2021.
Calvin also took the #5 spot in our “Best East Asian Languages Schools in the Great Lakes Region” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Calvin University is $26,082 for great lakes region east asian students.

With a ranking of #6, Indiana University - Bloomington did quite well on the 2023 Best Value East Asian Schools in the Great Lakes Region list. This large school is located in Bloomington, Indiana, and it awarded 40 ’s East Asian degrees in 2020-2021.
