It’s not easy to decide which college to attend when there so many options available for veterans. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Nutrition” ranking is part of that endeavor.

In 2020-2021, 6,158 people earned their degree in dietetics and clinical nutrition services, making the major the 128th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, dietetics and clinical nutrition services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $37,641 and had an average of $27,579 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southwest region, there were 346 dietetics and clinical nutrition services graduates with average earnings and debt of $32,099 and $24,617 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Nutrition” ranking, we looked at 15 colleges that offer a degree in dietetics and clinical nutrition services. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent dietetics and clinical nutrition services programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the dietetics and clinical nutrition services program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 15 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Nutrition that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Oklahoma - Health Sciences Center landed the #1 spot on the list. University of Oklahoma - Health Sciences Center is a small public school situated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It awarded 24 ’s nutrition degrees in 2020-2021.

Stephen F Austin State University is a fairly large public school situated in Nacogdoches, Texas. It awarded 11 ’s nutrition degrees in 2020-2021.

SHSU not only placed well in this ranking. NMSU Main Campus not only placed well in this ranking.
