Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Liberal Arts” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 556,813 liberal arts general studies students received their degree, making the major the 1st most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, liberal arts general studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $28,337 and had an average of $17,430 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 43,359 liberal arts general studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $30,635 and $19,425 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Liberal Arts” ranking, we looked at 144 colleges that offer a degree in liberal arts general studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent liberal arts general studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Out of the 144 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Liberal Arts that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Maryland Global Campus landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in Adelphi, Maryland, and it awarded 2,567 ’s liberal arts degrees in 2020-2021.
