Interdisciplinary Studies is the 86th most popular major in the country with 9,074 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, interdisciplinary studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,077 and had an average of $27,069 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,329 interdisciplinary studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,121 and $24,380 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Interdisciplinary Studies” ranking, we looked at 10 colleges that offer a degree in interdisciplinary studies. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality interdisciplinary studies programs as well as strong veteran support.

Top 10 Best Interdisciplinary Studies Colleges for Veterans in the Southwest Region
Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Interdisciplinary Studies that were part of this year’s ranking, Arizona State University - Tempe landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Tempe, Arizona, this large public school handed out 36 degrees to qualified ’s interdisciplinary studies students in 2020-2021.
ASU - Tempe also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 7,566 of the 74,795 students enrolled at Arizona State University - Tempe were GI Bill® students, of which 3,828 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $6,068. In addition to receiving other benefits, 672 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. University of Oklahoma is a large public school situated in Norman, Oklahoma. It awarded 64 ’s interdisciplinary studies degrees in 2020-2021.

Texas A&M International University is a medium-sized school located in Laredo, Texas that handed out 84 ’s interdisciplinary studies degrees in 2020-2021.

The University of Texas at El Paso did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Interdisciplinary Studies ranking, coming in at #8. UTEP is a large school located in El Paso, Texas that handed out 183 ’s interdisciplinary studies degrees in 2020-2021.
UTEP also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 1,873 of the 24,879 students enrolled at UTEP were GI Bill® students, of which 942 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Houston Baptist University is a private not-for-profit institution located in Houston, Texas. The school has a small population, and it awarded 33 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
