2022 Best Value Associate Degree Colleges for Forestry

In 2019-2020, 2,292 people earned their degree in forestry, making the major the 187th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, forestry graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $38,496 and had an average of $20,610 in loans still to pay off.
At the associate degree level specifically, there were 421 forestry graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,082 and $17,678 respectively.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Itasca Community College. It ranked #1 on our 2022 Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate list. Located in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, this small public school awarded 7 diplomas to qualified associates’s forestry students in 2019-2020.
Itasca Community College also took the #5 spot in our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Itasca Community College is $11,449 for Associate Degree Forestry students.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Horry-Georgetown Technical College. It ranked #2 on our 2022 Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate list. Located in Conway, South Carolina, this medium-sized public school handed out 31 degrees to qualified associates’s forestry students in 2019-2020.

Located in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, this small public school awarded 19 degrees to qualified associates’s forestry students in 2019-2020.
Penn College also took the #1 spot in our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Penn College is $25,794 for associate degree forestry students.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Haywood Community College. It ranked #4 on our 2022 Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate list. Haywood Community College is located in Clyde, North Carolina and, has a small student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 11 associates’s forestry degrees to qualified students.
Haywood Community College also took the #7 spot in our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Haywood Community College is $5,780 for Associate Degree Forestry students.

SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry landed the #7 spot on the 2022 Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate ranking. SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry is a public institution located in Syracuse, New York. The school has a small population, and it awarded 27 associates’s degrees in 2019-2020.
ESF also took the #3 spot in our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for ESF is $19,737 for Associate Degree Forestry students.
The student loan default rate at the school is 2.5%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%. Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 86%.
Mt. Hood Community College came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate ranking. Located in Gresham, Oregon, this medium-sized public school awarded 4 degrees to qualified associates’s forestry students in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at MHCC, the school also landed the #10 spot in our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The yearly cost to attend MHCC is $7,211 for associate degree forestry students.
Hocking College came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate ranking. Hocking College is a small public school situated in Nelsonville, Ohio. It awarded 14 associates’s forestry degrees in 2019-2020.
Hocking Technical College also made our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” list, coming in at #11. It costs about $12,793 for associate degree forestry students per year to attend Hocking Technical College.
With a ranking of #10, Paul Smiths College of Arts and Science did quite well on the 2022 Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate list. This small school is located in Paul Smiths, New York, and it awarded 13 associates’s forestry degrees in 2019-2020.
Paul Smith’s College also made our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” list, coming in at #2. The estimated yearly cost for Paul Smiths College of Arts and Science is $23,784 for Associate Degree Forestry students.

University of New Hampshire - Main Campus ranked #11 on this year’s Best Value Forestry Schools for an Associate list. Located in Durham, New Hampshire, this fairly large public school handed out 4 degrees to qualified associates’s forestry students in 2019-2020.
UNH did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #4 on our “Best Forestry Associate Degree Schools” list. It costs about $24,067 for associate degree forestry students per year to attend UNH.
The school has an impressive student loan default rate. It’s only 2.0%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 86%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.
