Religious Studies is the 115th most popular major in the country with 9,704 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, religious studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $32,163 and had an average of $28,712 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 1,290 religious studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Religion Schools for a Master’s” ranking analyzed 46 colleges that offered a degree in religious studies. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality religious studies programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

Out of the 46 schools in the Best Value Religion Schools for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Denver Seminary landed the #3 spot on the list. Littleton, Colorado is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s religion degrees to 12 students in 2019-2020.
