In 2020-2021, 1,140 people earned their degree in atmospheric sciences and meteorology, making the major the 227th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, atmospheric sciences and meteorology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $35,965 and had an average of $23,086 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 174 atmospheric sciences and meteorology graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,400 and $24,250 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Meteorology” ranking, we looked at 11 colleges that offer a degree in atmospheric sciences and meteorology. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great atmospheric sciences and meteorology programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
