Out of the 5 schools in the Best Value Geochemistry Schools that were part of this year’s ranking, Western Michigan University landed the #1 spot on the list. This fairly large school is located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and it awarded 8 ’s geochemistry degrees in 2020-2021.
WMU also made our “Best Geochemistry Schools” list, coming in at #4. The estimated yearly cost for Western Michigan University is $20,371 for geochemistry students.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of California - Los Angeles. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Value Geochemistry Schools list. This large school is located in Los Angeles, California, and it awarded 4 ’s geochemistry degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at UCLA, the school also landed the #3 spot in our “Best Geochemistry Schools” ranking. It costs about $15,023 for Geochemistry students per year to attend University of California - Los Angeles.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 1.6%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 96%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.

Out of the 5 schools in the Best Value Geochemistry Schools that were part of this year’s ranking, Colorado School of Mines landed the #4 spot on the list. Golden, Colorado is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s geochemistry degrees to 4 students in 2020-2021.
Mines also made our “Best Geochemistry Schools” list, coming in at #2. The yearly cost to attend Colorado School of Mines is $27,114 for Geochemistry students.
With a freshman retention rate of 92%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 3 to 1 is a sign that students will have more opportunities to engage with their professors one-on-one. The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 94%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.
