For this year's Best Psychology Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in the Rocky Mountains Region ranking, we looked at 28 colleges that offer a bachelor's in psychology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality psychology programs as well as strong support for students classified as non-traditional.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the psychology program at the school, affordability, and presence of non-traditional students. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

The following schools top our list of the Best Psychology Colleges for Non-Traditional Students.
Colorado Christian University tops the 2021 list of our schools in the Rocky Mountains Region that are best for non-traditional psychology students. Located in the city of Lakewood, CCU is a private not-for-profit college with a medium-sized student population.
The student loan default rate at CCU is lower than is typical, just 2.2% of students default in three years. 4,417 of CCU students are exclusively distance learners. 5,948 students are part time.
University of Utah landed the #2 spot in our 2021 best psychology schools for non-traditional students. Located in the medium-sized city of Salt Lake City, U of U is a public school with a fairly large student population. U of U did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our Best Colleges for Psychology in the Rocky Mountains Region list.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.8%. There are approximately 19,378 students at U of U that take at least one class online. 7,185 of U of U students are attending part time.
University of Colorado Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus comes in at #3 in this year's ranking. Located in the city of Denver, CU Anschutz is a public college with a very large student population. As a testament to the quality of education offered at CU Anschutz, the school also landed the #4 rank in our Best Colleges for Psychology in the Rocky Mountains Region ranking.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.9%. Approximately 8,659 students take at least one class online at CU Anschutz. About 11,636 of the students at CU Anschutz are attending part time.

University of Denver comes in at #4 in this year's ranking. Located in the city of Denver, DU is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly large student population. DU also made our Best Colleges for Psychology in the Rocky Mountains Region list, coming in at #1.
About 0.7% of DU students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. 3,512 of DU students are exclusively distance learners. About 5,249 of the students at DU are attending part time.
University of Colorado Boulder landed the #5 spot in our 2021 best psychology schools for non-traditional students. Located in the medium-sized city of Boulder, CU - Boulder is a public school with a very large student population. CU - Boulder also made our Best Colleges for Psychology in the Rocky Mountains Region list, coming in at #3.
The student loan default rate at CU - Boulder is lower than is typical, just 1.1% of students default in three years. There are approximately 24,299 students at CU - Boulder that take at least one class online. 7,631 students are part time.

Our rankings recognize Colorado State University - Fort Collins as the #6 school in this year's rankings. Colorado State is a fairly large public school located in the city of Fort Collins. Colorado State did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #5 on our Best Colleges for Psychology in the Rocky Mountains Region list.

About 0.9% of UW students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. Approximately 5,894 students take at least one class online at UW. There are roughly 2,493 part time students in attendance at UW.
Our rankings recognize Utah State University as the #9 school in this year's rankings. USU is a fairly large public school located in the small city of Logan. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, USU has also earned the #9 rank in our Best Colleges for Psychology in the Rocky Mountains Region ranking.
The student loan default rate at USU is lower than is typical, just 0.8% of students default in three years. Approximately 13,751 students take at least one class online at USU. 9,734 students are part time.
Naropa University comes in at #10 in this year's ranking. Located in the city of Boulder, Naropa is a private not-for-profit college with a small student population.
