With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. Our mission at College Factual is to arm you with as much information as we can to help you make that decision. Our “Most Veteran Friendly for Political Economy” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 358 people earned their degree in political economy, making the major the 665th most popular in the United States.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly for Political Economy” ranking analyzed 11 colleges that offered a degree in political economy. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality political economy programs as well as strong veteran support.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the political economy program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Top 11 Best Political Economy Colleges for Veterans
Out of the 11 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly for Political Economy that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Southern California landed the #1 spot on the list. USC is a large private not-for-profit school situated in Los Angeles, California. It awarded 29 ’s political economy degrees in 2020-2021.
USC also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 1,311 of the 46,287 students enrolled at USC were GI Bill® students, of which 862 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $20,487. During this same period, 388 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. USC does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
With a freshman retention rate of 91%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Georgetown University. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly for Political Economy. Georgetown University is a private not-for-profit institution located in Washington, District of Columbia. The school has a large population, and it awarded 58 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Georgetown did well in our major quality rankings, too. ASU - Tempe is located in Tempe, Arizona and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 16 ’s political economy degrees to qualified students.
In addition to being on our vets studying political economy list, ASU - Tempe has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, Arizona State University - Tempe supports 74,795 students, and 7,566 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 3,828 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,068. During this same period, 672 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

Duke is a private not-for-profit institution located in Durham, North Carolina. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 4 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

New Orleans, Louisiana is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s political economy degrees to 36 students in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at Rollins, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, Rollins College supports 3,104 students, and 122 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 65 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Eastern Oregon University did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly for Political Economy ranking, coming in at #7. Eastern Oregon University is a public institution located in La Grande, Oregon. The school has a small population, and it awarded 6 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

University of Puget Sound did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly for Political Economy ranking, coming in at #8. University of Puget Sound is a private not-for-profit institution located in Tacoma, Washington. The school has a small population, and it awarded 22 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Puget Sound did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 2,130 students enrolled at Puget Sound, 66 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
