2022 Best Value Associate Degree Colleges for Social Work
With all of the options students have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. Our “Best Value Social Work Schools for an Associate” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2019-2020, 57,618 people earned their degree in social work, making the major the 12th most popular in the United States. In 2017-2018, social work graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $36,459 and had an average of $30,084 in loans still to pay off.
At the associate degree level specifically, there were 1,522 social work graduates with average earnings and debt of $33,082 and $17,678 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Social Work Schools for an Associate” ranking looked at 32 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in social work. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality social work programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the social work program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Camden County College is a medium-sized public school situated in Blackwood, New Jersey. It awarded 40 associates’s social work degrees in 2019-2020.

Capital Community College is a public institution located in Hartford, Connecticut. The school has a small population, and it awarded 22 associates’s degrees in 2019-2020.
In addition to being on our associate degree social work students list, Capital Community College has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best Social Work Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Capital Community College is $7,590 for Associate Degree Social Work students.
Out of the 32 schools in the Best Value Social Work Schools for an Associate that were part of this year’s ranking, Bristol Community College landed the #3 spot on the list. Essex County College did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Social Work Schools for an Associate ranking, coming in at #16. Essex County College is located in Newark, New Jersey and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 7 associates’s social work degrees to qualified students.

Lake Land College did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Social Work Schools for an Associate ranking, coming in at #19. This small school is located in Mattoon, Illinois, and it awarded 18 associates’s social work degrees in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Lake Land College, the school also landed the #17 spot in our “Best Social Work Associate Degree Schools” ranking. The yearly cost to attend Lake Land College is $4,468 for Associate Degree Social Work students.
