Top 6 Best Marine Transportation Colleges for Veterans
Out of the 6 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly for Marine Transport that were part of this year’s ranking, Maine Maritime Academy landed the #1 spot on the list. Maine Maritime is a small school located in Castine, Maine that handed out 52 ’s marine transport degrees in 2020-2021.
Maine Maritime also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 941 students enrolled at Maine Maritime Academy, 92 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Northwestern Michigan College is a public institution located in Traverse City, Michigan. The school has a small population, and it awarded 46 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.

San Jacinto Community College is a large public school situated in Pasadena, Texas. It awarded 17 ’s marine transport degrees in 2020-2021.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Massachusetts Maritime Academy. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly for Marine Transport list. Maritime is located in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 33 ’s marine transport degrees to qualified students.
Maritime not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 75 of the 1,637 students enrolled at Massachusetts Maritime Academy were GI Bill® students, of which 31 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,796. To help with additional expenses, 10 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Massachusetts Maritime Academy does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
With a freshman retention rate of 87%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
