An increased number of veterans enrolling at a particular school means that college faculty are more adept at accommodating and supporting those with previous military experience.
The VA reports that there are 11 GI Bill® students at Bates. There are 1,876 students enrolled at Bates. This means that approximately 0.59% use the GI Bill® to help pay for tuition, fees, and other expenses. To put that into perspective, about three to four percent of college students in the U.S. are veterans according to the Student Veterans of America.
This number includes all chapters of the GI Bill®, e.g. Post-9/11, Montgomery GI Bill® and Reserve Education Assistance Program. It also includes Veteran Readiness and Employment. It doesn't include military personnel on active duty who are attending this college through Tuition Assistance. The total military population may be higher.
