Our Veterans Report on Carnegie Mellon:
When many veterans attend a school, its faculty and staff tend to be more experienced at meeting the needs of former service members. The VA reports that there are 160 GI Bill® students at Carnegie Mellon. Since the total enrollment at the school is 7,187, roughly 2.2% of those enrolled are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. To put that into context, the Student Veterans of America estimates that roughly three to four percent of all U.S. college students are veterans.
The total spans all GI Bill® chapters, including Post-9/11, Montgomery, Reserve Education Assistance, and Veteran Readiness and Employment. It excludes active-duty military personnel attending through Tuition Assistance, so the true military population may be larger.
