A sizable veteran community on campus is often a sign that a school knows how to support students with a military background. According to the VA, there are 2,034 GI Bill® students at UNLV. As the school’s total enrollment is 24,131, approximately 8.4% of the students are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. As a benchmark, the Student Veterans of America puts the share of veteran college students nationwide at three to four percent.
This number includes all chapters of the GI Bill®, such as Post-9/11, the Montgomery GI Bill®, the Reserve Education Assistance Program, and Veteran Readiness and Employment. It excludes active-duty military personnel attending through Tuition Assistance, so the true military population may be larger. Veterans make up 0.5% of those enrolled at UNLV, per U.S. Department of Education data.
