California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo has taken the #1 spot in this year's animal science ranking for non-traditional students. Located in the small suburb of San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is a public school with a very large student population. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #2 on our Best Colleges for Animal Science in the Far Western US Region list.

About 0.9% of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. There are approximately 1,637 students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo that take at least one class online. About 1,017 of the students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo are attending part time. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Washington State University earned the #3 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the town of Pullman, Wazzu is a public college with a fairly large student population. Wazzu not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #3 on our Best Colleges for Animal Science in the Far Western US Region list.

The student loan default rate at Wazzu is lower than is typical, just 4.1% of students default in three years. 3,345 of Wazzu students are exclusively distance learners. 4,795 of Wazzu students are attending part time. Wazzu does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
