Across the Southwest region, there were 118 insurance graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 104 insurance graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,112 and $26,227 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Insurance for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 4 colleges that offered a degree in insurance. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great insurance programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of North Texas. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Insurance for a Bachelor’s list. University of North Texas is a large school located in Denton, Texas that handed out 57 bachelors’s insurance degrees in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at UNT, the school also landed the #2 spot in our “Best Insurance Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.Among the 40,953 students enrolled at University of North Texas, 2,038 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 1,138 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $9,999. During this same period, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

With a freshman retention rate of 85%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Central Oklahoma. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Insurance for a Bachelor’s. UCO is a fairly large school located in Edmond, Oklahoma that handed out 16 bachelors’s insurance degrees in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our southwest region bachelor’s degree vets studying insurance list, UCO has also earned the #3 rank in our “Best Insurance Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 934 of the 14,132 students enrolled at UCO were GI Bill® students, of which 428 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,062. On top of their other funding sources, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Houston - Downtown. The school came in at #3 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Insurance for a Bachelor’s. UH Downtown is located in Houston, Texas and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 15 bachelors’s insurance degrees to qualified students.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at UH Downtown, the school also landed the #4 spot in our “Best Insurance Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.According to our most recent data, University of Houston - Downtown supports 15,239 students, and 20 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 20 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $3,002. In addition to receiving other benefits, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Baylor University. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Insurance for a Bachelor’s list. Baylor is a large school located in Waco, Texas that handed out 16 bachelors’s insurance degrees in 2020-2021.

Baylor also took the #1 spot in our “Best Insurance Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.Among the 19,297 students enrolled at Baylor, 876 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 593 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $17,744. In addition to receiving other benefits, 263 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Baylor does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 91%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year. The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.
