The University of Texas at Austin has taken the #1 spot in this year's journalism ranking for non-traditional students. Located in the city of Austin, UT Austin is a public school with a fairly large student population. UT Austin not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #1 on our Best Colleges for Journalism in the Southwest Region list.

The student loan default rate at UT Austin is lower than is typical, just 0.8% of students default in three years. Approximately 23,198 students take at least one class online at UT Austin. 3,479 of UT Austin students are attending part time.

University of Oklahoma Norman Campus comes in at #2 in this year's ranking. University of Oklahoma is a very large public school located in the medium-sized suburb of Norman. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, University of Oklahoma has also earned the #5 rank in our Best Colleges for Journalism in the Southwest Region ranking.

About 1.2% of University of Oklahoma students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. There are approximately 12,433 students at University of Oklahoma that take at least one class online. About 6,082 of the students at University of Oklahoma are attending part time.

University of North Texas comes in at #3 in this year's ranking. UNT is a fairly large public school located in the medium-sized city of Denton. UNT also took the #8 spot in our Best Colleges for Journalism in the Southwest Region rankings.

The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.8%. There are approximately 20,194 students at UNT that take at least one class online. There are roughly 12,105 part time students in attendance at UNT.

The #4 spot in this year's ranking belongs to University of Arizona. University of Arizona is a very large public school located in the large city of Tucson. University of Arizona also took the #7 spot in our Best Colleges for Journalism in the Southwest Region rankings.

The #5 spot in this year's ranking belongs to Southern Methodist University. Located in the suburb of Dallas, SMU is a private not-for-profit school with a large student population. SMU also made our Best Colleges for Journalism in the Southwest Region list, coming in at #4.

Baylor University earned the #6 spot in our 2021 rankings. Located in the city of Waco, Baylor is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly large student population. Baylor also took the #3 spot in our Best Colleges for Journalism in the Southwest Region rankings.

Texas Christian University earned the #7 spot in our 2021 rankings. TCU is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Fort Worth. As a testament to the quality of education offered at TCU, the school also landed the #6 rank in our Best Colleges for Journalism in the Southwest Region ranking.

The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.5%. 218 students at TCU are exclusively online. There are roughly 317 part time students in attendance at TCU.

Northern Arizona University comes in at #8 in this year's ranking. NAU is a fairly large public school located in the small city of Flagstaff.
