When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in Pennsylvania for CompSci for a Bachelor’s” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
Computer Science is the 12th most popular major in the country with 59,565 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $67,538 and had an average of $23,620 in loans still to pay off.
Across Pennsylvania, there were 1,957 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $78,562 and $27,446 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,315 computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,741 and $27,572 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Pennsylvania for CompSci for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 14 colleges that offered a degree in computer science. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent computer science programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Carnegie Mellon University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Pennsylvania for CompSci for a Bachelor’s. Carnegie Mellon University is a fairly large school located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that handed out 247 bachelors’s compsci degrees in 2020-2021.
