In 2020-2021, 40,555 people earned their degree in information technology, making the major the 42nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information technology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $46,525 and had an average of $26,794 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 11,783 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $45,555 and $24,433 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 2,573 information technology graduates with average earnings and debt of $34,328 and $20,384 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Well Attended IT Major in the Southeast Region for an Associate” ranking, we looked at 116 colleges that offer a degree in information technology. This ranking identifies schools that graduate the most students in information technology.

Annandale, Virginia is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s IT degrees to 345 students in 2020-2021.
