Best General Education Schools for Non-Traditional Students
University of Massachusetts Amherst has taken the #1 spot in this year's general education ranking for non-traditional students. UMass Amherst is a fairly large public school located in the large suburb of Amherst. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, UMass Amherst has also earned the #1 rank in our Best Colleges for General Education in the New England Region ranking.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 0.9%. 4,105 students at UMass Amherst are exclusively online. 6,786 students are part time.
The #2 spot in this year's ranking belongs to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. MCLA is a small public school located in the town of North Adams. MCLA not only placed well in our non-traditional rankings. It is also #3 on our Best Colleges for General Education in the New England Region list.
About 3.0% of MCLA students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. Approximately 270 students take at least one class online at MCLA. 171 of MCLA students are attending part time.
