Electrical Engineering is the 39th most popular major in the country with 28,844 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, electrical engineering graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $74,380 and had an average of $24,114 in loans still to pay off.

Across Ohio, there were 1,153 electrical engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $74,774 and $25,369 respectively.

For this year’s “Best Value EE Schools in Ohio” ranking, we looked at 13 colleges that offer a degree in electrical engineering. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great electrical engineering programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the electrical engineering program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

Ohio State not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #2 on our “Best Electrical Engineering Schools in Ohio” list. It costs about $16,845 for Ohio EE students per year to attend Ohio State.

With a freshman retention rate of 94%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 3.6%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Cincinnati - Main Campus. It ranked #2 on our 2024 Best Value EE Schools in Ohio list. This large school is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, and it awarded 177 ’s ee degrees in 2020-2021.

With a ranking of #13, Case Western Reserve University did quite well on the 2024 Best Value EE Schools in Ohio list. Case Western is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Cleveland, Ohio. It awarded 80 ’s ee degrees in 2020-2021.

Case Western also made our “Best Electrical Engineering Schools in Ohio” list, coming in at #1. It costs about $34,214 for ohio ee students per year to attend Case Western.
