Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Housing” ranking is part of that endeavor.

Housing is the 316th most popular major in the country with 302 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, housing graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,369 and had an average of $23,582 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 60 housing graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $23,964 respectively.

Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent housing programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Ohio University - Athens Campus. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Housing list. Located in Athens, Ohio, this large public school handed out 10 diplomas to qualified ’s housing students in 2020-2021.

OHIO Athens also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 25,714 students enrolled at OHIO Athens, 726 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 324 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,725. To help with additional expenses, 10 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.
