For this year’s “Best Value ASL Schools” ranking, we looked at 10 colleges that offer a degree in American Sign Language (ASL). The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great American Sign Language (ASL) programs and cost less that schools of similar quality.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Gallaudet University. The school came in at #1 for the Best Value ASL Schools. Washington, District of Columbia is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s ASL degrees to 44 students in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our asl students list, Gallaudet has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best American Sign Language (ASL) Schools” ranking. It costs about $16,833 for ASL students per year to attend Gallaudet University.

The undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 6 to 1 is a sign that students will have more opportunities to engage with their professors one-on-one.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Kent State University at Kent. The school came in at #2 for the Best Value ASL Schools. Kent State University at Kent is a large school located in Kent, Ohio that handed out 3 ’s ASL degrees in 2020-2021.

Kent State also took the #5 spot in our “Best American Sign Language (ASL) Schools” ranking. The yearly cost to attend Kent State University at Kent is $19,117 for asl students.

Out of the 10 schools in the Best Value ASL Schools that were part of this year’s ranking, Weber State University landed the #3 spot on the list. WSU is a large public school situated in Ogden, Utah. It awarded 9 ’s ASL degrees in 2020-2021.

WSU also took the #8 spot in our “Best American Sign Language (ASL) Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for Weber State University is $11,647 for asl students.

The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 4.1%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

William Woods University came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Best Value ASL Schools ranking. William Woods is a small school located in Fulton, Missouri that handed out 7 ’s ASL degrees in 2020-2021.

William Woods not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #4 on our “Best American Sign Language (ASL) Schools” list. It costs about $24,454 for asl students per year to attend William Woods.

University of Houston did quite well in the 2023 Best Value ASL Schools ranking, coming in at #7. Houston, Texas is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s ASL degrees to 12 students in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at UH, the school also landed the #7 spot in our “Best American Sign Language (ASL) Schools” ranking. The estimated yearly cost for University of Houston is $13,721 for asl students.

Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 86%. The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 4.4%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

Utah Valley University did quite well in the 2023 Best Value ASL Schools ranking, coming in at #8. UVU is a large public school situated in Orem, Utah. It awarded 29 ’s ASL degrees in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at UVU, the school also landed the #10 spot in our “Best American Sign Language (ASL) Schools” ranking. The yearly cost to attend UVU is $9,955 for asl students.

The low undergrad student loan default rate of 4.4% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.

With a undergrad student-to-faculty ratio of 10 to 1, it’s easy to see that the school is committed to helping their undergraduates succeed. The low undergrad student loan default rate of 1.0% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 92%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.
