2022 Best Value Master’s Degree Colleges for American Sign Language

American Sign Language is the 197th most popular major in the country with 2,737 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $30,270 and had an average of $21,733 in loans still to pay off.
At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 112 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value ASL Schools for a Master’s” ranking looked at 5 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in American Sign Language. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent American Sign Language programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.

Out of the 5 schools in the Best Value ASL Schools for a Master’s that were part of this year’s ranking, University of North Florida landed the #1 spot on the list. Jacksonville, Florida is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s ASL degrees to 26 students in 2019-2020.

Located in Washington, District of Columbia, this small private not-for-profit school handed out 40 diplomas to qualified masters’s ASL students in 2019-2020.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Gallaudet, the school also landed the #2 spot in our “Best American Sign Language Master’s Degree Schools” ranking. Average graduate tuition and fees at Gallaudet are $18,706, but you may pay more or less depending on your major.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Northern Colorado. It ranked #3 on our 2022 Best Value ASL Schools for a Master’s list. University of Northern Colorado is a fairly large public school situated in Greeley, Colorado. It awarded 24 masters’s ASL degrees in 2019-2020.
University of Northern Colorado also took the #5 spot in our “Best American Sign Language Master’s Degree Schools” ranking. Although you might pay more or less depending on your area of study, average graduate tuition and fees at University of Northern Colorado are $21,708.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Western Oregon University. It ranked #4 on our 2022 Best Value ASL Schools for a Master’s list. Monmouth, Oregon is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out masters’s ASL degrees to 9 students in 2019-2020.
