In 2020-2021, 9,210 people earned their degree in health/medical prep programs, making the major the 104th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, health/medical prep programs graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $28,184 and had an average of $21,459 in loans still to pay off.
At the associate degree level specifically, there were 2,905 health/medical prep programs graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,806 and $19,336 respectively.

University of Alaska Anchorage ranked #20 on this year’s Schools for an Associate Highly Focused on Medical Prep Major list. Located in Anchorage, Alaska, this fairly large public school awarded 109 diplomas to qualified associates’s medical prep students in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 3.4% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
Dean College landed the #21 spot on the 2023 Schools for an Associate Highly Focused on Medical Prep Major ranking. Franklin, Massachusetts is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out associates’s medical prep degrees to 15 students in 2020-2021.
