Our “Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Public Health” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 40,596 people earned their degree in public health, making the major the 26th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, public health graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $43,158 and had an average of $27,396 in loans still to pay off.
Across Oregon, there were 596 public health graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,924 and $25,800 respectively.

Top 7 Best Public Health Colleges for Veterans in Oregon
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Portland State University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Public Health. This large school is located in Portland, Oregon, and it awarded 186 ’s public health degrees in 2020-2021.
Portland State University did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 23,640 students enrolled at Portland State University, 1,127 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 739 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,835. Corvallis, Oregon is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s public health degrees to 224 students in 2020-2021.
Oregon State not only placed well in this ranking. Pacific University came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Public Health ranking. Pacific is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Forest Grove, Oregon. It awarded 16 ’s public health degrees in 2020-2021.
Pacific also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 155 of the 3,808 students enrolled at Pacific University were GI Bill® students, of which 82 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $17,055. On top of their other funding sources, 45 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Pacific University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

National University of Natural Medicine came in at #7 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in Oregon for Public Health ranking. NUNM is a private not-for-profit institution located in Portland, Oregon. The school has a small population, and it awarded 5 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at NUNM, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 485 students enrolled at National University of Natural Medicine, 15 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
