Health & Physical Education is the 11th most popular major in the country with 64,869 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, health and physical education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $29,872 and had an average of $24,778 in loans still to pay off.

At the master’s degree level specifically, there were 8,567 health and physical education graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,398 and $43,194 respectively.

This year’s “Best Value Phys Ed Schools for a Master’s” ranking looked at 267 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in health and physical education. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality health and physical education programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the health and physical education program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.
