What You’ll Find in Our Veterans Report on SUNY Ulster:
A large number of veterans attending a college means the college and faculty are more used to supporting and accommodating the needs of those with prior military experience. The VA reports that there are 26 GI Bill® students at SUNY Ulster. Because the school enrolls 1,265, approximately 2.1% of the students are using the GI Bill® to help pay for their education. By comparison, the Student Veterans of America reports that three to four percent of college students nationwide are veterans.
Note, this figure includes all chapters of the GI Bill® program (e.g., Post-9/11, Montgomery GI Bill®, Reserve Education Assistance Program, and Veteran Readiness and Employment). Active-duty military using Tuition Assistance are excluded, so the actual military population may be bigger. Veteran students account for 1.3% of the student body at SUNY Ulster, according to U.S. Department of Education figures.
How a school’s veterans persist, transfer, and graduate is a useful signal of how well it serves them.
| Outcome | Veterans | All Students |
|---|---|---|
