2022 Best Value Ag Mech Schools for a Bachelor’s
With all of the options students have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. Our “Best Value Ag Mech Schools for a Bachelor’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
Agricultural Mechanization is the 235th most popular major in the country with 1,550 degrees awarded in 2019-2020. In 2017-2018, ag mechanization graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $44,100 and had an average of $16,882 in loans still to pay off.
At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 307 ag mechanization graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.
For this year’s “Best Value Ag Mech Schools for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 16 colleges that offer a degree in ag mechanization. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent ag mechanization programs, but they also cost less that schools of similar quality.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the ag mechanization program at the school and the cost of the school after aid is awarded among other things. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend South Dakota State University. It ranked #1 on our 2022 Best Value Ag Mech Schools for a Bachelor’s list. South Dakota State is a public institution located in Brookings, South Dakota. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 27 bachelors’s degrees in 2019-2020.

University of Wisconsin - River Falls is a medium-sized public school situated in River Falls, Wisconsin. It awarded 20 bachelors’s ag mech degrees in 2019-2020.
UW - River Falls not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #6 on our “Best Agricultural Mechanization Bachelor’s Degree Schools” list. The yearly cost to attend University of Wisconsin - River Falls is $13,748 for Bachelor’s Degree Ag Mech students.
The school has an impressive student loan default rate. It’s only 2.7%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend North Dakota State University - Main Campus. The school came in at #3 for the Best Value Ag Mech Schools for a Bachelor’s. North Dakota State University - Main Campus is a fairly large public school situated in Fargo, North Dakota. It awarded 11 bachelors’s ag mech degrees in 2019-2020.

Sam Houston State University came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Ag Mech Schools for a Bachelor’s ranking. Sam Houston State University is located in Huntsville, Texas and, has a large student population. In 2019-2020, this school awarded 28 bachelors’s ag mech degrees to qualified students.
SHSU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #10 on our “Best Agricultural Mechanization Bachelor’s Degree Schools” list. The estimated yearly cost for Sam Houston State University is $14,617 for Bachelor’s Degree Ag Mech students.
University of Nebraska - Lincoln did quite well in the 2022 Best Value Ag Mech Schools for a Bachelor’s ranking, coming in at #7. University of Nebraska - Lincoln is a large school located in Lincoln, Nebraska that handed out 22 bachelors’s ag mech degrees in 2019-2020.
UNL not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #2 on our “Best Agricultural Mechanization Bachelor’s Degree Schools” list. The estimated yearly cost for University of Nebraska - Lincoln is $17,208 for bachelor’s degree ag mech students.
