Located in the medium-sized city of College Station, Texas A&M College Station is a public school with a very large student population. Texas A&M College Station also took the #1 spot in our Best Colleges for Animal Science in the Southwest Region rankings.

The school has a low student loan default rate of 2.1%. There are approximately 4,608 students at Texas A&M College Station that take at least one class online. There are roughly 9,459 part time students in attendance at Texas A&M College Station. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

Texas Tech University

Lubbock, TX

Texas Tech University earned the #2 spot in our 2021 rankings. Texas Tech is a very large public school located in the city of Lubbock. Texas Tech did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our Best Colleges for Animal Science in the Southwest Region list.

The student loan default rate at Texas Tech is lower than is typical, just 6.0% of students default in three years. There are approximately 15,508 students at Texas Tech that take at least one class online. About 6,714 of the students at Texas Tech are attending part time. Our rankings recognize Oklahoma State University - Main Campus as the #3 school in this year's rankings. OSU is a fairly large public school located in the town of Stillwater. OSU did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #3 on our Best Colleges for Animal Science in the Southwest Region list.

About 7.0% of OSU students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. There are approximately 8,190 students at OSU that take at least one class online. About 5,303 of the students at OSU are attending part time. OSU does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Our rankings recognize Sam Houston State University as the #4 school in this year's rankings. SHSU is a very large public school located in the distant town of Huntsville. SHSU also made our Best Colleges for Animal Science in the Southwest Region list, coming in at #5.
