When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Insurance” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.

In 2020-2021, 1,809 people earned their degree in insurance, making the major the 325th most popular in the United States.

Across the Southeast region, there were 781 insurance graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Insurance” ranking, we looked at 10 colleges that offer a degree in insurance. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great insurance programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the insurance program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Insurance that were part of this year’s ranking, Florida State University landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in Tallahassee, Florida, and it awarded 138 ’s insurance degrees in 2020-2021.

Florida State not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Our most recent data shows that 8 of the 43,569 students enrolled at Florida State University were GI Bill® students, of which 8 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of South Carolina - Columbia. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Insurance list. Located in Columbia, South Carolina, this large public school awarded 124 degrees to qualified ’s insurance students in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our southeast region vets studying insurance list, UofSC has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 35,470 students enrolled at UofSC, 1,609 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 651 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,453. During this same period, 33 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. UofSC offers credit for military training for eligible students.
