In 2020-2021, 18,325 people earned their degree in information science, making the major the 58th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, information science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $59,394 and had an average of $28,852 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 2,411 information science graduates with average earnings and debt of $58,224 and $22,002 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for IS for a Master’s” ranking, we looked at 14 colleges that offer a degree in information science. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great information science programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

The school has a large population, and it awarded 242 masters’s degrees in 2020-2021.

As a testament to the quality of education offered at U-M, the school also landed the #3 spot in our “Best Information Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” ranking.Of the 47,907 students enrolled at U-M, 570 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Marquette also took the #6 spot in our “Best Information Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 140 of the 11,550 students enrolled at Marquette were GI Bill® students, of which 93 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
