In 2020-2021, 43,297 people earned their degree in teacher education subject specific, making the major the 22nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, teacher education subject specific graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $42,245 and had an average of $24,696 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 7,501 teacher education subject specific graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,773 and $26,569 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Subject Specific Ed for a Doctorate” ranking analyzed 18 colleges that offered a degree in teacher education subject specific. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent teacher education subject specific programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
