California Polytechnic State University - San Luis Obispo tops the 2021 list of our schools in the Far Western US Region that are best for non-traditional engineering students. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is a very large public school located in the suburb of San Luis Obispo. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo also took the #2 spot in our Best Colleges for Engineering in the Far Western US Region rankings.

The student loan default rate at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is lower than is typical, just 0.9% of students default in three years. There are approximately 1,637 students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo that take at least one class online. About 1,017 of the students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo are attending part time. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

University of California - Berkeley earned the #2 spot in our 2021 rankings. UC Berkeley is a fairly large public school located in the midsize city of Berkeley. UC Berkeley did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our Best Colleges for Engineering in the Far Western US Region list.

Our rankings recognize Oregon State University as the #3 school in this year's rankings. Oregon State is a very large public school located in the small city of Corvallis. Oregon State did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #6 on our Best Colleges for Engineering in the Far Western US Region list.

In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, USC has also earned the #7 rank in our Best Colleges for Engineering in the Far Western US Region ranking.
