Michigan Technological University tops the 2021 list of our schools in Michigan that are best for non-traditional engineering students. Michigan Tech is a medium-sized public school located in the remote town of Houghton. Michigan Tech did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our Best Colleges for Engineering in Michigan list.

The student loan default rate at Michigan Tech is lower than is typical, just 2.8% of students default in three years. There are approximately 331 students at Michigan Tech that take at least one class online. There are roughly 734 part time students in attendance at Michigan Tech. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

University of Michigan - Ann Arbor comes in at #2 in this year's ranking. Located in the medium-sized city of Ann Arbor, U-M is a public college with a very large student population. As a testament to the quality of education offered at U-M, the school also landed the #2 rank in our Best Colleges for Engineering in Michigan ranking.

The student loan default rate at U-M is lower than is typical, just 1.1% of students default in three years. Approximately 487 students take at least one class online at U-M. There are roughly 2,376 part time students in attendance at U-M. U-M does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Michigan State University comes in at #3 in this year's ranking. Michigan State is a fairly large public school located in the small city of East Lansing. Michigan State did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #5 on our Best Colleges for Engineering in Michigan list.
