In 2020-2021, 1,425 people earned their degree in Germanic languages, making the major the 222nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, Germanic languages graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $55,443 and had an average of $24,646 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Plains States region, there were 130 Germanic languages graduates with average earnings and debt of $34,643 and $25,916 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 111 Germanic languages graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,046 and $29,021 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for German for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 13 colleges that offered a degree in Germanic languages. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent Germanic languages programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
