In 2020-2021, 32,731 people earned their degree in history, making the major the 30th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, history graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $30,467 and had an average of $23,587 in loans still to pay off.
Across Pennsylvania, there were 1,242 history graduates with average earnings and debt of $29,611 and $25,811 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Pennsylvania for History” ranking looked at 18 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in history. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great history programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

University of Pennsylvania is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 71 ’s history degrees to qualified students.

Duquesne University is a private not-for-profit institution located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 39 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
