This year's Best History Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in the Southwest Region ranking analyzed 28 colleges that offered a bachelor's degree in history. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great history programs and a strong support system for non-traditional students.

University of North Texas tops the 2021 list of our schools in the Southwest Region that are best for non-traditional history students. Located in the midsize city of Denton, UNT is a public college with a fairly large student population.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.8%. Approximately 20,194 students take at least one class online at UNT. There are roughly 12,105 part time students in attendance at UNT.
The #2 spot in this year's ranking belongs to The University of Texas at Arlington. UT Arlington is a fairly large public school located in the city of Arlington.
About 1.4% of UT Arlington students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. 17,309 students at UT Arlington are exclusively online. About 22,217 of the students at UT Arlington are attending part time.
The #3 spot in this year's ranking belongs to Texas A&M University - College Station. Located in the medium-sized city of College Station, Texas A&M College Station is a public school with a very large student population. In addition to being on our best for non-traditional students list, Texas A&M College Station has also earned the #3 rank in our Best Colleges for History in the Southwest Region ranking.
About 0.6% of Texas A&M College Station students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. Approximately 24,343 students take at least one class online at Texas A&M College Station. About 9,943 of the students at Texas A&M College Station are attending part time.
Our rankings recognize The University of Texas at Austin as the #4 school in this year's rankings. UT Austin is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Austin. UT Austin also made our Best Colleges for History in the Southwest Region list, coming in at #2.
About 0.8% of UT Austin students default on their loans in three years, which is lower than average. There are approximately 23,198 students at UT Austin that take at least one class online. 3,479 students are part time.
Texas Tech University comes in at #5 in this year's ranking. Texas Tech is a fairly large public school located in the large city of Lubbock. As a testament to the quality of education offered at Texas Tech, the school also landed the #6 rank in our Best Colleges for History in the Southwest Region ranking.
The school has a low student loan default rate of 1.4%. There are approximately 22,394 students at Texas Tech that take at least one class online. There are roughly 7,077 part time students in attendance at Texas Tech.
The #6 spot in this year's ranking belongs to University of Houston - Clear Lake. UH Clear Lake is a moderately-sized public school located in the suburb of Houston.

There are approximately 12,433 students at University of Oklahoma that take at least one class online. There are roughly 6,082 part time students in attendance at University of Oklahoma.
Our rankings recognize University of Houston - Downtown as the #10 school in this year's rankings. UH Downtown is a fairly large public school located in the city of Houston.
