2022 Best Value Psychology Schools for a Bachelor’s
When it comes to choosing a college, students have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. Our “Best Value Psychology Schools for a Bachelor’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2019-2020, 134,326 general psychology students received their degree, making the major the 4th most popular in the country. In 2017-2018, general psychology graduates who were awarded their degree in 2015-2017, earned an average of $28,999 and had an average of $26,247 in loans still to pay off.
At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 110,394 general psychology graduates with average earnings and debt of $38,303 and $24,501 respectively.
This year’s “Best Value Psychology Schools for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 1,062 colleges that offered a degree in general psychology. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality general psychology programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as the cost to attend the school after aid is awarded and overall quality of the general psychology program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

It’s in the top 20% of all schools reviewed in that analysis. The estimated yearly cost for American Public University System is $10,222 for bachelor’s degree psychology students.
With a freshman retention rate of 98%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.
