In 2020-2021, 88,434 computer information systems students received their degree, making the major the 9th most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, computer information systems graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $54,066 and had an average of $26,787 in loans still to pay off.

Across Virginia, there were 3,933 computer information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $54,693 and $27,397 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 2,279 computer information systems graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,553 and $27,844 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Virginia for CIS for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 13 colleges that offer a degree in computer information systems. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality computer information systems programs as well as strong veteran support.
