You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Computer Science for a Doctorate list. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this fairly large private not-for-profit school awarded 49 degrees to qualified doctorate’s computer science students in 2020-2021.
MIT did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #1 on our “Best Computer Science Doctor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list.According to our most recent data, MIT supports 11,254 students, and 129 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 38 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $17,024. In addition to receiving other benefits, 32 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.
With a freshman retention rate of 98%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. Brown is located in Providence, Rhode Island and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 11 doctorate’s computer science degrees to qualified students.
Brown not only placed well in this ranking. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this large private not-for-profit school awarded 14 degrees to qualified doctorate’s computer science students in 2020-2021.

WPI also made our “Best Computer Science Doctor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list, coming in at #7.Our most recent data shows that 77 of the 6,920 students enrolled at Worcester Polytechnic Institute were GI Bill® students, of which 47 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
