With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Engineering-Related Tech for an Associate” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
In 2020-2021, 989 people earned their degree in engineering-related technologies, making the major the 270th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, engineering-related technologies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $57,339 and had an average of $21,670 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 138 engineering-related technologies graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 35 engineering-related technologies graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,077 and $19,490 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Engineering-Related Tech for an Associate” ranking analyzed 4 colleges that offered a degree in engineering-related technologies. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great engineering-related technologies programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Vincennes University is located in Vincennes, Indiana and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 4 associates’s engineering-related tech degrees to qualified students.
In addition to being on our great lakes region associate degree vets studying engineering-related tech list, Vincennes University has also earned the #3 rank in our “Best Engineering-Related Technologies Associate Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” ranking.According to our most recent data, Vincennes University supports 16,048 students, and 9 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 5 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $4,454. On top of their other funding sources, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. The school came in at #3 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Engineering-Related Tech for an Associate. Ferris is a public institution located in Big Rapids, Michigan. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 11 associates’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Ferris also made our “Best Engineering-Related Technologies Associate Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list, coming in at #1.Among the 11,165 students enrolled at Ferris, 377 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 189 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $8,426. To help with additional expenses, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Ferris does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

Traverse City, Michigan is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The public school handed out associates’s engineering-related tech degrees to 3 students in 2020-2021.
NMC also made our “Best Engineering-Related Technologies Associate Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list, coming in at #4.According to our most recent data, NMC supports 3,278 students, and 171 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 102 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $3,956. During this same period, 0 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
