In 2020-2021, 9,018 people earned their degree in general engineering, making the major the 96th most popular in the United States.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 1,414 general engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 457 general engineering graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,343 and $26,790 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Engineering for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 13 colleges that offer a degree in general engineering. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent general engineering programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Grand Valley State University is a large public school situated in Allendale, Michigan. It awarded 2 bachelors’s engineering degrees in 2020-2021.

GVSU not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #8 on our “Best General Engineering Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list.Among the 23,350 students enrolled at GVSU, 479 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Miami University - Oxford is located in Oxford, Ohio and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 12 bachelors’s engineering degrees to qualified students.

Miami University - Oxford did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #10 on our “Best General Engineering Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list.Of the 18,880 students enrolled at Miami University - Oxford, 405 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Case Western is a fairly large school located in Cleveland, Ohio that handed out 1 bachelors’s engineering degrees in 2020-2021.

Case Western not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #3 on our “Best General Engineering Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region” list.Of the 11,465 students enrolled at Case Western Reserve University, 109 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 69 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $18,799.
