Best English Language & Literature Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in the Southeast RegionOut of all the majors we analyze each year, English language and literature was ranked #15 in the country. In fact 42,686 bachelor's degrees were handed out in 2018-2019. Of those degrees, 9,803 went to students in the Southeast region of the United States.

For this year's Best English Language & Literature Colleges for Non-Traditional Students in the Southeast Region ranking, we looked at 88 colleges that offer a bachelor's in English language and literature. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great English language and literature programs and a strong support system for non-traditional students.

GMU is a very large public school located in the large suburb of Fairfax. GMU also took the #4 spot in our Best Colleges for English Language & Literature in the Southeast Region rankings.

The school has a low student loan default rate of 2.1%. Approximately 10,589 students take at least one class online at GMU. 11,606 students are part time. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

The #2 spot in this year's ranking belongs to University of Miami. U Miami is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the small city of Coral Gables. As a testament to the quality of education offered at U Miami, the school also landed the #2 rank in our Best Colleges for English Language & Literature in the Southeast Region ranking.
