When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Ethnic Studies” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 9,231 people earned their degree in ethnic studies, making the major the 99th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, ethnic studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $30,818 and had an average of $22,901 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Middle Atlantic region, there were 1,127 ethnic studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $32,392 and $23,114 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Ethnic Studies” ranking, we looked at 16 colleges that offer a degree in ethnic studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent ethnic studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the ethnic studies program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran population. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Georgetown University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Middle Atlantic Region for Ethnic Studies. Georgetown is located in Washington, District of Columbia and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 15 ’s ethnic studies degrees to qualified students.
