In 2020-2021, 4,858 people earned their degree in food, nutrition and related services, making the major the 135th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, food, nutrition and related services graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $34,748 and had an average of $24,931 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 1,098 food, nutrition and related services graduates with average earnings and debt of $31,886 and $25,547 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Nutrition” ranking analyzed 14 colleges that offered a degree in food, nutrition and related services. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality food, nutrition and related services programs as well as strong veteran support.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the food, nutrition and related services program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend The University of Alabama. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Nutrition. Tuscaloosa, Alabama is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s nutrition degrees to 251 students in 2020-2021.

Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Nutrition ranking, coming in at #7. JWU Charlotte is a small school located in Charlotte, North Carolina that handed out 73 ’s nutrition degrees in 2020-2021.

JWU Charlotte also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Our most recent data shows that 150 of the 1,396 students enrolled at Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte were GI Bill® students, of which 78 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

University of Central Arkansas ranked #12 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Nutrition list. Conway, Arkansas is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s nutrition degrees to 17 students in 2020-2021.

UCA did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 10,335 students enrolled at UCA, 528 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
